What is Aerial Yoga.

Aerial Yoga is a unique and fun way of practicing yoga. In Aerial Yoga - we use a hammock - made out of parachute material - to move and stretch the body in ways you just can’t when you’re on the floor.

The great thing about the Aerial Yoga Hammock (or trapeze, as it is sometimes called), is that it offers support and eases the joints. Sometimes lifting us completely off the ground.

It also offers the unique ability to hang upside down, or invert, as we like to call it. Providing support and decompressing the spine, all at the same time. A full body workout experience, but you’ll be having so much fun, you won’t even notice!

Swinging, strengthening, toning, flying and laughing in a social and supportive environment, where the most important thing is to love yourself exactly where you are at right now, in this moment. Love your body for what it CAN do, because it can do amazing things. (Like flying!)

How Aerial Yoga Helps.

How does Aerial Yoga contribute to the employee satisfaction and productivity? There are so many key benefits to Aerial Yoga.

  • A small study noted significant improvements in depression and stress levels when people practiced aerial arts. (1)

  • Inversions can contribute to the same improved mental health as noted above. As well as, decompressing the spine and other joints. But the benefits also include improving cognitive health; specifically, memory and retention. In addition, inversions help drain the bodies lymphatic system, boosting the immune system!

  • Physically, aerial can be low to no impact with many modifications and support from the hammock. No physical limitation is impossible. But it can also be very challenging, in a good way, for those looking to increase flexibility, mobility, balance, performance and strength, and burning up to 300 calories in a 50 minute session and improving cardiovascular health.

  • Aerial Yoga is often used in play therapy with children. But it’s just as important, especially when healing from trauma or addiction, to reintroduce fun into daily life. Be silly, try new things, feel like a kid again! This allows groups to build comfort, trust and engage with one another in a non-work setting.

  • Every session ends with a guided meditation in the hammock and optional aroma therapy. This guided meditation allows each individual a time to relieve stress, focus on self awareness, practice mindful breathing and coping skills.
